Tamara Hernandez was born in Canada to a Nicaraguan father and an Irish-Canadian mother. She tells tragic, funny, and emotionally powerful stories of alienation, sexuality, and violence using surrealism, science fiction, and dark comedy.

Her short film, THE SLAP, was chosen for Sundance and Critics' Week in Cannes and sold in countries worldwide. Her feature, MEN CRY BULLETS, won Best Narrative Feature at SXSW and four other festival Best Film awards and was distributed in the U.S. Following her feature debut, Tamara directed two documentaries: DIAL "T" FOR TORMENT for Jimmy Kimmel and THE CHICANO COLLECTION for Cheech Marin. After having her two children, she wrote, directed, and produced two award-winning educational series including YOUR CHILD CAN DISCOVER. She recently finished directing two shorts, ADELAIDA and ALIENATED.
